HANOI, September 2 (Engineering Daily) -- After three years of construction, the Tan Vu-Lach Huyen road section was officially put into operation today with the start button of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
Located in the northern port city of Haiphong, the Tan Vu-Lach Huyen Highway is part of the “Lach Huyen International Port infrastructure system construction” funded by Japanese official development assistant (ODA).
The ODA agreement was signed in 2011 and so far a total loan amount of JPY110 billion ($997 million) has been disbursed. The highway is a total 15.63km long, including the 5.44km Dinh Vu-Cat Hai Bridge—the longest cross-sea bridge in Southeast Asia.
It connects the developing areas in the east of the northern port city of Haiphong with Lach Huyen Port in the island district of Cat Hai and Hanoi-Haiphong Highway.
According to the Japan International Cooperation Agency, the ODA provider, this project was received special conditions reserved for Special Terms for Economic Partnership (STEP) and applies advanced technology from Japan.
After the opening of the highway and bridge session, Lach Huyen Port is also expected to be put into operation in 2018.
The highway is also meant to form a complete infrastructure network facilitating transportation to Lach Huyen Port, thereby attracting investment to Haiphong.
