(Engineering Daily) Nguyen Anh Duong = Vietnam's North and South Railway Project will start pre-work before entering the main track.

Vietnam's Transport Ministry said it will proceed with bidding for a bridge improvement for the railway project linking Da Nang and Quang Nam.

The project is the first of its kind among the North-South Railway linking Hanoi-Vinh-Nha Trang-Sai Gon to improve the six bridges installed in Da Nang and Quang Nam.

The project is expected to cost a total of $830.8 million and will begin next month for about eight months.

According to the report, most bridges were built during the French colonial period, and the aging process has progressed considerably.

Accordingly, it is expected that the competitiveness of the North-South railway project could be strengthened if the bridge improvement project, which is divided into 11 projects, is completed.
